HISTORICAL FACT

Unrefurbished Coal Drying ThermometerThe Schaeffer & Budenberg Reform brand thermometer calculated in degrees Fahrenheit. This was used to monitor the temperature within the coal drying bin. Hot air from the furnace was redirected to assist with coal drying. It was important to monitor this temperature so the coal dust would not ignite.
